I've asked my first floor tenants to stop smoking and they don't seem to listen to a word I say. What are my rights and how can I get them to stop smoking?
FYI: most apartments in Chicago do not have contracts, but there are still actions you can take. But what are they?

My dad has been smoking for more than 30 yrs. Now a mass was found in his lungs. If this is cancer, should he stop smoking abruptly? I heard that if you stop smoking abruptly, then there is a bigger chance of developing cancer. Can anybody confirm this. Is quitting gradually more advisable? Thanks

Lets think this through. Raising taxes is supposed to do two things:
1) Get people to stop smoking.
2) Raise money for health care.
If #1 is successful, what happens to the health care funding?
Remember the funding often goes to unrelated issues like child health care, not always to smoke prevention.

Hello, my dad is trying (and determined) to quit smoking. Some choices that he is willing to take is Nicoteen Gum, Nicoteen Patch, Chantix, or Cold turkey (when you quit smoking without any help). Please pick the option and list positives and negatives about it.
Oh yeah, and just to let you know, my dad only smokes about 1-2 cigarrettes a day. So he's not a "heavy" smoker. He's just still addicted to it.

How can I help him to quit? I want to be supportive and encourage him to do so. I know he gets frustrated and wants to quit but he never seems to do it or take any steps in the right direction. I don't think he knows where to start.

I smoke pot everyday. I normally smoke between 3-6 times a day. It makes me lazy and not care about going to class. I have been a pothead for years and love the feeling that bud gives me but my excessive use is ultimately leading to my downfall. I know i won't stop smoking herb for awhile but how can at least reduce my usage?

I am having surgery on January 9th, I literally have to completely quit tomorrow. I am on the patch, but I keep cheating and taking one or two puffs every few hours. It only totals to maybe 2 cigarettes a day, but I need to be completely smoke free to go under the anesthesia. I know its easy to say, just don't do it, but I feel like I have no control, no willpower, no anything! I have been smoking 2 packs a day for

I'm 21 and have been smoking for about 2 years now. I smoke about 7 or 8 cigarettes a day. I want to quit and need to quit but I've heard the horror stories of quitting and how hard it is, but most of them have or did smoke way more than me and for much longer. Any over the counter medications? Home remedies, anything.... I have some commit lozenges and nicotine gum. I am 25 and have been smoking off and on since 15 and heavily since 19. It is time to quit! Any advice from former smokers (or non-smokers if you have any good tips!) would be greatly appreciated. I plan to quit tomorrow.

I don't want to substitute one drug for another (chantix, etc), but I'm really desperate to stop today! I've cut back dramatically, but it seems like when my heart rate is elevated from exercise or stress, I get a terrible craving for cigarettes. The same thing happens when I have conversations with other people, or if I see or smell someone else smoking.
